Changing day into night (or dusk at least) and removing some distracting stuff from the top left hand corner.

Come to the Light
This is a photo I took on my honeymoon while on Green Island in North Queensland. I couldn't remember the name of the island so I asked my husband. He said he had no idea until I reminded him it was where I pushed him into a sea snake while we were snorkeling so I could get away. Oh that was Green Island. True Love right there.

A New Beginning
From this day forward I plan (and hope) to be adding a photo a day to this blog. The plan is not to take a photo a day but to edit and post one a day in an effort to improve my photography and especially my skills at post processing! In the spirit of this I will be showing the before and after photos.
TO begin!
Aiming for a dreamy vintage feel:
This photo is also available on Society6 as a fine art print or phone case!

Barbie and Ken
Nicole Houff takes photos of barbie with a lot of whimsy and a little sarcasm.
You can buy prints from her Etsy shop...
For Late Night Barbie she asks "Barbie, Ken, and Allan hit the town. But who's going home with who?"
Hmmm!

Pumpkin Soup
Today is my first attempt at food styling.
Its Pumpkin soup with some home grown mung bean sprouts. (Yeah I was a little low on the soup, I decided to photograph it AFTER I had eaten it for dinner so this is leftovers!)
Pumpkin soup is one of my favourite easy to make meals and it seems a good time to share the recipe.
Ingredients
Approx. 250g Diced peeled pumpkin (I used butternut but you can use any type)
1 large or two small onions, diced
1 or 2 garlic cloves, finely diced
Vegetable or chicken stock
1 Tbsp Olive oil
Optional
Cumin- a pinch or to taste
Oregano- a pinch or to taste
Rosemary- a pinch or to taste
Cream or evaporated milk
Directions
Heat the oil in a large saucepan.
Add the onion and garlic and cook until soft.
Add the diced pumpkin and stir.
Add enough stock to just cover the pumpkin and onion.
If you are adding the herbs, add now.
Simmer uncovered until the pumpkin is soft.
Blend with a stick blender.
Your delicious pumpkin soup is now ready!
For a really creamy soup stir in some evaporated milk or cream just before serving.
This soup is also really yum with some pumpkin replaced with carrot.

Photo Love -Mark Laita
There is a touching story behind these beautiful photographs of flowers by Mark Laita. Mark's mother was diagnosed with cancer, so during her treatment he took these photos and sent one to her every few days. There is such vibrancy in the bright colours, and I like the unusual choice of photographing the back of some flowers which are just as beautiful as the front.
